In 2002 my dominant hand was severed by glass. God’s Grace has taken over my creations ever since. There are no limits to God nor are there any definitions.

The Path for Eric’s Promise, to be more giving, not lie and do more random acts of kindness is well lit.

This was always the case between me and Mom back in the day: As the year draws closer to an end we started to prepare our hearts for the following year and how Eric’s Promise would go. We would be sad at the times of holidays but be hopeful that the Love of Christ in Eric would shine, ripple and make the world a better place the following year. I always thought back to her original words though. She said and it was quoted in the Vincentian that Eric made that Promise for Lent but she took it as a life change, something you don’t just do for Lent and forget about. It is to be a daily walk.

In the Path laid out between the exchange of me, Mom, our connection to St. Mother Teresa (for my 40th birthday) and all of Heaven, music showed up. The key ingredient is still the $5.00 and Eric’s gift of the rose to his friend but God is also repeatedly showing me how Eric gave his friends the gift of music before he died. Eric spent alot of time at this bedroom computer making cds full of thoughtful music for those that brought light to him. It was a way for him to show his love and gratitude.

As written before, Eric would call me while I was at Ball State University and ask for songs to make for his friends and teachers. I loved music as well and Eric knew that. Always dancing in the rain. I came home from Ball State in December 2001. Eric died that following year on Valentine’s Day, 2002. Eric loved sharing music because what does music do?

  13. Music brings epiphanies that only music can bring
