The Truth.

When I got home from Colorado in 2020 the world was clearly upside down and God sent me to turn it right side up, just as the scriptures say. Here is merely a snippet of why.

  1. Marian High School had stopped inviting my Mom to speak for Eric’s Promise whereas every year before she was more than invited, she was welcome.
  2. St. Vincent thrift store in St. Joseph County Indiana had merged with Goodwill. The archenemies of non-profits. They sold their soul to the devil.
  3. Covid was rapid and killing everything it could. Denying elderly freedom, cancelling every known joy. You remember how this closed them in. They were “protecting” them.
  4. Churches closed their doors when Covid came. The one place that is supposed to stand firm folded.
  5. I went through all of Eric’s notes with my Mom and made folders called, “The Approach.” I put all of Eric’s stats, newspaper articles, pictures and testimonies to present to St. Vincent, as they too had stopped contacting my Mom.
  6. When I got there this is what I saw:

A. They took down their website for Eric’s Promise and when I questioned Mrs. Watson about it she said, yeah, it’s gone.

B. I saw an email on their computer as I was sitting with one of the program leads that Eric’s Promise had “merged” and was basically no longer. No one told our family that they decided this.

C. When Mrs. Watson was presented with an opportunity to speak to Newscenter 16 at the food drive with Martin’s in Heritage Square she refuted the connection between Eric’s Promise and their organization, St. Vincent de Paul and encouraged others to be kind instead. This clip was not aired on the TV. She had also made a Facebook announcement to the same effect.

D. At the Promise Walk this same year I was with Mrs. Watson and again Newscenter 16 came to speak to us both this time. I told them that Mrs. Watson had broken the partnership. Mrs. Watson continued to act like all was well and again this clip wasn’t on TV.

7. I continued to live out and am living out Eric’s Promise to the Highest degree and as it should have been all along. Again, as D. said, in reading from Eric’s funeral packet, the promise is:

To be more giving, to not lie and to do more random acts of kindness.

More to come.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
