Happy birthday to my Grandma who always waited for that moment of “Once and For All” with me. She always encouraged forgiveness and loving eachother. She always encouraged everyone to take care of one another. One of my favorite family traditions was Sunday family meals. When I was a kid all of the Aunts, Uncles and Cousins would gather at my Grandma and Grandpa’s house for home cooked meals. Grandma was an amazing cook. Polish style all of the way. I get Truthbumps telling you about it. Full body. She loved her family so much and her only request was that we pray her after she died. She wrote us all a letter and that request repeated itself.
She wants me to tell you more about her cooking. Hahaha. She was so cute. Always making sure we all had enough to eat. She would give us gas money when we would come visit, organize bingo games to win candy and always had coloring books at the ready. Card games was a must as well. We always enjoyed staying over at our grandparent’s house, walking in the cemetery to take care of those that had passed and receiving care packages on a routine basis. She was the best grandma ever. Always loving. Always kind (until she fell :/), to me that is. Always full of prayer. Always full of care. Her family guards me like no other and her only brother Great Uncle Marvin was an amazing man too. Eric’s Promise came to light on his birthday in 2002. 2-13-2002.
Grandma would always incorporate our polish traditions as much as possible. She brought her 6 kids up in a Catholic Polish Church and it kept true in the Spirit realm all the way through.
Grandma’s favorite color was pink as I had mentioned before but as I write this am sitting under hundreds of pink roses. Those that have died are at the ready with special permission from God. She is always leaving me little messages of answered prayers everywhere. 🙂
She was our prayer warrior. Rosary everyday. Litanies like it was her job because it was. She loved her Blessed Mother Mary blue as she called it. Always encouraging me and my connections to Christ and how things worked out in real time. She always gave me her goodies from the places she would donate to in the Catholic realm of things. St. Padre Pio, St. Anthony and so much more were premier gifts of faith that she passed down to me. Boy oh boy are they ever alive and present!
One example: I raced home one night a handful of years ago and was moved to my closet bin where I found a prayer book she gave me of St. Padre Pio. I hadn’t prayed it yet but my Aunt Trish was dying and those are the prayers that I was guided to. The very next day I go to the grotto of Notre Dame and see an old God sent friend. She asked me how I was doing as I was standing near the Grotto and all I could say was “St. Padre Pio!!!!” 🙂 She said, “Come here!!!” I had only met this friend once before and lo and behold what does she do but pull a handful of photos of St. Padre Pio out of her book bag!!! I asked her if she had any more saints in her book bag and no! Only St. Padre Pio! I told her that I had just started praying for my Aunt Trish the night before with this Saint and now here he was with a BANG! Confirmation.
These are the types of stories that come with my walk in faith. My Grandma was my biggest supporter of encouraging my connections to the Saints and all of Heaven. Sadly, she was the only one and is the only one. The rest of my family has been very disrespectful about this connection of mine. I did however make it to the Notre Dame bookstore with my Mom on my 40th birthday where she bought me the book “My Life With the Saints.”
I am thankful that my Grandma not only encouraged my connection to Heaven here on Earth but provided tools to grow it, sow it and root myself in it. That’s how family is supposed to be.
in Jesus’ name. Amen.
